Diana, how do you manage to live stylishly yet functionally in a small space?
Especially in an attic apartment, every square meter counts. I’m very intentional about choosing furniture and accessories. It’s not about placing a beautiful piece wherever there’s space, but about selecting everything with care. Every item has a function and a purpose.
Is there a piece of furniture or an interior detail that’s particularly special to you?
Yes, my wardrobe. It was custom-made by a carpenter friend. We designed it together, and it fits me and my needs perfectly. I enjoy it every day. There’s something truly special about a piece of furniture that’s so personal.
What was especially important to you when furnishing your apartment?
Combining different materials was key for me – it adds depth and liveliness to a room. For example, I love the contrast between heavy bouclé fabric and delicate glass. And wall design! Even in smaller rooms, you shouldn’t be afraid of bold wall elements – they’re what truly give a space that cozy, lived-in feeling.
How has your style evolved over time – and what remains constant?
My style has definitely become more colorful. I’ve always liked mixing different eras, but over time I’ve become bolder – especially when it comes to color. I do think that evolution reflects how I feel in life, too.
At the same time, there are a few timeless pieces that have been with me since my very first apartment – like my chrome fruit bowl or my pink balloon dog. He’s missing half an ear by now, but I couldn’t imagine my home without him.
Lastly, what’s a no-go for you – and what’s a trend you’re happy to follow?
No-gos for me are high-gloss white furniture and cold white lighting – neither feel right to me.
Trend I love? Definitely vintage furniture and accessories! I adore pieces with history.
