Martina, what’s your favorite spot at home?
“In the evenings, it's the rooftop terrace. On a beautiful summer night, when the lights of the Kampenwand blink in the distance, I sit there and reflect on the day. We – my husband and I – sit together, talk, and enjoy a glass of wine. Instead of watching TV, we talk or read here together. That’s our little ritual, and we truly enjoy it.”
How would you describe your interior style?
“Intuitive and very personal. It’s made up of many souvenirs and memories from countless holidays. Every piece tells a story. Since I don’t get to spend much time at home, I want it to feel like I’m on vacation when I’m here. It should feel light, airy, and bring beautiful images to mind – images that help clear my thoughts and inspire me.”
Holidays and travel seem to be very important to you. How does that show in your wall design?
“We decorated our bedroom and hallway with wallpaper that shows ocean waves. It reminds me of the calm I feel at the sea and instantly takes me back there. It's as if every glance at the wall brings a little bit of that holiday feeling back. And since we don’t have the sea here – only mountains – this way, I can have a little bit of both.”
What’s your tip for making a home feel warm and cozy?
“To me, coziness comes from personal things. A home isn’t meant to be a showroom – first and foremost, it should be a place of peace for yourself, where you truly feel at ease. It doesn’t have to follow a set design just because someone else says it’s trendy. A space becomes cozy when it reflects who you are. Fabrics, colors, beautiful everyday items like a special coffee cup or porcelain you use daily – that’s what creates coziness for me.”
When listening to Martina, one thing becomes clear: comfort doesn’t come from trends or perfectly styled rooms, but from the personal touches, from memories, and from the things that simply feel good. Her home, high above the rooftops of Rosenheim, is more than just a place to live – it’s a place to arrive, to dream, and a little slice of holiday in everyday life.
