For human beings, the forest’s primary purpose is recreation and leisure. In forests, we can unwind, drink in the fresh air and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of nature. Many people use the forest as a place of recreation, to pick mushrooms or go hiking or jogging. The fresh green of the forest is considered to have invigorating and healing properties. The scent of the pine trees and the rustling of the wind in the treetops sharpen our senses and are like a spa treatment for body and mind. The forest is also a safe haven for animals. It is their habitat and the place that provides them with shelter and food.
Globally, however, the forest is much more than a simple habitat for plants and creatures. The forest’s trees protect the soil and store rainwater, preventing it from seeping away and thus form the basis for our drinking water. Trees also filter pollutants from the environment and clean the air. Forests regulate regional climates and absorb sound and noise.
On the International Day of Forests, attention is explicitly drawn to the importance of forests.
Huge swathes of forest across the world are threatened by deforestation. Here at Komar, we recognise the forest’s huge significance for our world and want to protect it. We therefore use materials derived from sustainable forestry to manufacture our products.
Whether deciduous, mixed or tropical, each type of forest has something going for it and has a unique impact on the mood of people and animals. While deciduous forests adapt to the seasons and look particularly enchanting in autumn, spruce and fir trees are verdant all year round and provide nature with fresh green shades, whatever the season. The rainforest also remains permanently fresh, but has a much greater variety of species and colours.
A forest photomural does not store drinking water, of course, but it does create a relaxing atmosphere and promote concentration. Forest photomurals are therefore particularly suitable for offices, living rooms and bedrooms. However, wall designs featuring rainforests can also be a great fit for the bathroom and create a wonderful sense of well-being. Our versatile selection of wallpapers features a wide variety of forest motifs. Forests with their many facets may be exotic, indigenous or enchanted. Today, we would like to give them the attention they deserve.
