2. Scope of this Statement
This Accessibility Statement applies to the website www.komar.de/en, including all associated subdomains, the online shop, the B2B portal, and the mobile version of the website. Native mobile applications (apps) are not part of this offering.
3. Legal Basis
The assessment of accessibility is carried out with reference to the requirements of the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz – BFSG), the corresponding implementing regulation (BFSGV), the European standard EN 301 549, and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) versions 2.1 and 2.2, each at conformance level AA.
4. Compliance Status
The website is largely compliant with the requirements of WCAG 2.1 AA. A technical review and related optimization measures were conducted by an externally commissioned technical service provider (Cartware GmbH). The assessment was carried out using automated testing tools, including the IBM Equal Access Accessibility Checker, as well as through technical analysis of the main page types, such as the homepage, product listing pages, product detail pages, shopping cart, checkout, contact section, and customer account area.
Following this review, identified issues were technically revised and structural improvements were implemented. A comprehensive manual audit covering all usage scenarios, assistive technologies, and device configurations, in the sense of a formal WCAG 2.2 conformance certification, was not conducted.
5. Measures Implemented to Improve Accessibility
As part of the optimization process, missing ARIA attributes were added, in particular aria-label and role attributes to enhance screen reader support. Context-specific alternative texts and title attributes for images were implemented, and commonly used content elements were supplemented with appropriate fallback input fields.
Keyboard navigation was improved across all key page types. Navigation menus and submenus are operable via keyboard. Sliders can be controlled using arrow keys, with appropriate focus management in place. The product gallery is accessible by keyboard and can be opened using the Enter key and closed using the Escape key. Filter sections are keyboard accessible, checkboxes can be focused and activated via keyboard, and cookie dialogs can likewise be controlled using keyboard input.
In addition, a configurable accessibility menu has been integrated. This feature allows, among other functions, activation or deactivation of the accessibility settings, definition of main content skip targets, configuration of skip links, and the setup of keyboard shortcuts. Administration is carried out via the backend panel. These measures are intended to improve both accessibility and overall usability of the website.
6. Non-Accessible Content
Despite the improvements implemented, certain known limitations remain.
6.1 Color Contrast
In certain areas of the website, color contrast ratios of text or user interface elements do not yet fully meet the requirements of WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 AA. These deviations primarily affect specific design components. Ongoing review and gradual optimization will take place as part of future design updates.
6.2 Third-Party Components
The website incorporates external services and modules whose technical implementation is not entirely within the direct control of Komar Products GmbH & Co. KG. These include, in particular, product visualization features, rating and trust elements, and dynamically embedded scripts.
In specific usage scenarios, these components may present limitations regarding keyboard operability, screen reader compatibility, or semantic structure.
7. Preparation and Updating of this Statement
This statement was prepared on February 19, 2026. It is based on an externally supported technical review using automated testing tools. The statement will be updated in the event of significant technical changes or as part of regular reviews.
