Tips and tricks for successful lighting
When choosing interior lighting, it is important to consider the room size and ceiling height. A large room with high ceilings will require a significant amount of light. In this case, it is worth installing an uplighter or a pendant lamp. Pendant lamps are often adjustable and can therefore be ideally tailored to your ceiling height. They are not only a light source, but also serve as a stylish decorative accessory. However, a single ceiling lamp would not be sufficient. Use two or three other light fixtures to create points of interest in the room. The choice of ceiling lighting is particularly important in low-ceilinged rooms. LED strips around the ceiling or small spotlights dotted around the entire area greatly enhance the aesthetics of smaller spaces. A bright ceiling elongates the room and creates the impression of height.
Choosing the right colour lighting
While the kitchen and study can be brighter, and a light colour from daylight white to cool white is recommended, living room and bedroom lights should be dimmer and warmer. To ensure the space is cosy but not too dim, a warm-white light between 2,700 and 3,300 Kelvins, is recommended. In the bathroom, you want to be able to wake up in the morning and take a good look at yourself in the mirror. This requires cool-white light with a colour temperature of approximately 4,000 Kelvins. A dimmable light would be ideal here, to ensure that you are not woken in the night by the bright white light and the bathroom visit is forgotten by the morning.
Overall, when it comes to illuminating your home, it is important to use a wide range of lighting. Installing small and large lights that together create a coherent lighting scheme allows a great deal of design freedom and can be used appropriately to suit the occasion.
