1. Dear Nadja, are you still happy with your bathroom's new look or have you tired of it already?
The mural brought our bathroom to life, giving the room exactly what it needed. I still love the end result!
2. You are a professional interior designer, but would you trust an amateur to hang a Komar mural?
Well, I am not a professional. I love what I do, but I really only got into it through my home renovation. Thanks to Instagram, I can now also share my passion with my community and many great brands. I have actually hung quite a few Komar murals in some of my previous homes because they are such high-quality murals and are so easy to hang. My advice would be to just go for it.
3. Which colours and materials do you prefer to work with?
My colour scheme is black and white combined with wood. I love strong contrasts and the naturalness of wood. This combination, when paired with natural materials and natural colours, brings the right amount of cosiness to a room.
4. What is your ultimate interior design tip?
Start small and add gradually. Think about the atmosphere in which you feel most comfortable, and then see exactly which colours and materials interest you personally. Stay away from trends – they are too fickle. Your interior is a mirror into your soul, so you should express it in this way.
5. Is there anything you wish you had known before you started your home renovation?
Yes, there's so much I wish I had known. You have to give so much attention to even the smallest of details and read up on every single topic in depth, even if you think your tradesmen already know this information.
6. Do you have any other DIY projects planned for this year?
Oh yes (laughing), there is always some project or another in my head, day and night. There's a lot going on in our outdoor area at the moment. Then, later this year in Autumn or Winter, I would like to take on a few projects inside.
7. Where do you get your inspiration from?
Mostly when travelling – I'm also a huge fan of Dutch furniture stores. Pinterest is another great source of inspiration.
8. Which home decor accessory could you not do without?
Cushions! You can instantly give a living room or bedroom a completely different look with cushions. You can also vary the colours and patterns depending on the season.
9. Do you have a favourite place in your home? If so, what makes it so special?
At the moment, I'm delighted with how the mural has transformed our bathroom.
10. How would you describe your interior design style?
Serene and cosy.
11. How do you manage to stay true to your style?
I always try to remain true to myself. That's not to say I will never change, but I always try to come back to my roots. Serene and cosy are my basis for everything. As soon as things get too wild and colourful, I'm out! It's wild and colourful enough in my head without also experiencing it in my home. Instead, I need balance.
